Why the hell did it take me so long to write…
Last time I wrote on this blog, we were still in June… It’s been quite a while. Believe it or not, my life has never been that busy since I finished school. I couldn’t have imagined that I would be busier during summer than during school but that’s what happened and this is the reason it took me two months to write again on this blog. Let me tell you a little about me and you will probably understand why I’m complaining about this busy summer.
I am in a choir (yes it’s true) and we’ve been the main choir in a super big choir festival in Québec, Canada for the last 5 years. From June 1st to July 12th, my life has only been this : rehearsal, rehearsal, press conference, rehearsal, eat, rehearsal, concert, concert, concert x 10, and then rehearsal again… I had NO time to myself… We had the luck to sing with a lot of famous artists from Québec and with Charles Aznavour (french singer). We have also been conducted by one of the most famous (and best) choral music composer right now. His name is Eric Whitacre and he composes contemporary music for choirs. You may know him or not depending if you are interested in choral music but I can assure you that this man is going to be as known as Mozart, Bach or Mendelssohn. So we had the immense luck to be directed by him on July 11th and the concert was amazing. I’m giving you a link to a video that was shot during the concert. There was a big thunderstorm outside while we were singing a song and at the very last note, the power went off. It was simply incredible and the whole crowd started screaming and applauded for a long time as it was simply too impressive. I’m not saying this to convert you to choral music, but I suppose that people coming to this blog are, just like me, music lovers. I definitely enjoy discovering new music from all over the world with new sounds and things I haven’t heard yet. Eric Whitacre does that by composing choral music that you have never heard, with harmonies so rich and so new that you just have to listen to the songs a thousand times before completely being able to hear every notes.
Now this bring us up to July 11th… Why didn’t I write after that ? On July 13th, to get some rest from that crazy schedule I had, I went on a trip that brought me to Greece, Turkey and France. Unfortunately, I don’t need to tell you that instead of getting some rest, I ended this trip completely exhausted. It was hard for me getting Internet when I wanted.. Especially in Turkey..! It was also hard because it was like being away from civilization for 3 weeks as I wasn’t able to look at my favorite blogs or sites to find some good music to listen to. I also had no access to my emails and could not read the messages I was receiving from artists and producers to feature their music on my blog… So I listened to “old” songs during all my trip. I can’t say I suffered from that as it was pleasant to hear songs I had discovered maybe two months ago. Usually, I listen to a song a few times and get bored fast, but this time I listened a LOT of times to some songs and just started appreciating them a lot more. So what did I listen to this summer ?
Whatever happens – Nicole Scherzinger
Electric City – Black Eyed Peas
Pon de Floor – Major Lazer
When you hear the bassline – Major Lazer
Naw Beg No Bly – Stacious (Dragon Stout Riddim)
Survivor – Tony Matterhorn (Dragon Stout Riddim)
K.I.G – Head, Shoulders, Kneez & Toez
Of course I listened to a lot more songs but it would probably be too long for me to list them all and these are the one I listened the most to. I’m also curious and would like to know what were the songs you listened throughout this summer.
Today, I opened my email box… I have a LOT of messages.. It will probably take me 4-5 days to be able to read everything. Do not worry. I will do it. I will try to find some good tracks that have been sent to me during my “vacations”. I will try to write posts as I find those songs to keep you up with everything you might have missed…! At least now I have time to write about songs I like. I hope this big post did not scare you and that you were able to read until the end. Expect good things to happen with Music Bitch in the following months.
